Payment instructions for paying your IRS Taxes

If you owe tax, make your check or money order payable to the United States Treasury, and enclose it with your payment voucher. On the front of your check or money order, please show your name, address, social security number, daytime phone number, the tax year and type of form you are filing (for example, "2005 Form 1040"). Do not mail cash with your return. You can also use a credit card to pay the tax due by calling 1–800–2paytax (1–800–272–9829) or Link2Gov (1–800–729–1040). Refer to your form instructions or www.IRS.gov for additional information.

Massachusetts taxpayers mail your Federal tax payment with the 1040V payment voucher to: Internal Revenue Service, P.O. Box 37002, Hartford, CT  06176-7002. In most cases, the mailing address for a Massachusetts tax return can be found directly on the form itself.

Rhode Island residents mail your Federal tax payment with the 1040V payment voucher to: P.O. Box 105017, Atlanta, GA  30348-5017. Your Rhode Island payment should be mailed to: Rhode Island Division of Taxation, One Capitol Hill, Providence, RI  02908
